Keltisch Druiden-Amulett-Anhänger (Ohne mindestpreis)

Attention: due to customs regulations we can only ship inside the European Union. Please ensure you have a valid EU shipping address before placing a bid. Ancient Celtic bronze pendant of elongated oval form, with an integral suspension loop at the top and a small terminal knob at the lower end. The centre is decorated with a raised domed boss. -> The pendant may have served as a personal ornament or protective amulet. The prominent central boss gives the pendant a strong focal point and may have had symbolic meaning, possibly connected with protection, the eye, solar imagery, or general apotropaic decoration. The pendant will be delivered on a modern leather jewellery cord with a modern metal suspension ring. Size: ± 37 x 15,2 mm Condition: Good ancient condition with surface wear, green patination, small marks, and age-related deposits. The suspension loop, lower terminal, and central boss are well preserved. Minor surface irregularities and signs of wear consistent with age and use. Certificate of Authenticity (PDF) is available upon request for all lots with a hammer price of €100 or higher. -> Small bronze pendants were widely used in antiquity as personal ornaments, dress accessories, and amulets. Their compact size made them suitable for daily wear, while their shapes and symbols could carry protective or devotional meaning. -> The eye-shaped outline and central dome give this pendant an amuletic quality. In many ancient cultures, simple geometric and circular motifs were associated with protection, visibility, and the warding off of harmful forces. -> The Celts were a diverse group of Iron Age societies spread across much of Europe, particularly in regions that are now France, the British Isles, Central Europe, and parts of the Iberian Peninsula. Rather than forming a single unified civilisation, Celtic communities shared related languages, artistic traditions, and religious beliefs. Celtic religion was closely connected to nature and the landscape. Sacred places included forests, rivers, springs, and hilltops, which were believed to be inhabited by spiritual forces or deities. Many objects, such as weapons, jewellery, and offerings, were deliberately deposited in water or other natural locations as part of ritual practices. The Druids formed the intellectual and religious elite of Celtic society. They acted as priests, judges, scholars, and advisors, and were responsible for preserving religious knowledge, law, and tradition through oral transmission rather than written texts. According to classical sources, Druids played a central role in rituals, education, and the interpretation of the natural and spiritual world. Belief in an afterlife or the continuation of the soul was widespread among the Celts, which may explain the presence of grave goods and the symbolic importance of personal ornaments and amulets. Many surviving artefacts reflect both everyday use and spiritual significance, offering insight into a belief system deeply interwoven with daily life.
