A finely Japanese Kinkozan Satsuma earthenware vase dating from the Meiji period (1868–1912). The vase has a deep cobalt-blue ground richly embellished with intricate gilt geometric and floral motifs. Two large reserves are painted with detailed figural scenes: one showing elegant ladies and attendants beneath blossoming trees, and the other depicting figures gathered in a traditional interior. The tall neck is flanked by two ornate openwork handles and decorated with extensive gilding. The vase stands on a shaped, spreading foot. The underside bears a painted Kinkozan four-character mark. Size: Height 18.5cm × Width 8cm Condition: In excellent overall condition, with glaze crazing consistent with age and typical of Satsuma ware. Minor age-related wear to the gilding may be present.
