Luristan Bronze Spearhead – 2nd–1st Millennium BC A finely cast Luristan bronze spearhead featuring a long, slender leaf-shaped blade with sharply defined shoulders and a prominent central midrib extending nearly the full length of the blade. The spearhead retains its original integral tang, intended for secure mounting onto a wooden shaft. Its elegant proportions and carefully reinforced construction demonstrate the high level of metallurgical skill achieved by the bronze craftsmen of ancient Luristan. Weapons of this form were produced throughout the Zagros Mountains of western Iran during the late Bronze and early Iron Ages. Medium-sized spearheads such as this example were practical military and hunting implements, valued for their penetrating capability and durability. The surface preserves an attractive green archaeological patina with scattered mineral encrustations and light earthen deposits, reflecting centuries of burial while enhancing the artifact’s authentic archaeological character.
