Genesis
- ist eine englische Rockband, die 1967 am Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey, gegründet wurde.
Die erfolgreichste Besetzung der Band bestand aus Keyboarder Tony Banks, Bassist/Gitarrist Mike Rutherford und Schlagzeuger/Sänger Phil Collins.
Genesis gehörte zu den Vorreitern des Progressive Rock in den 1970ern, als die Band auch Sänger Peter Gabriel und Gitarrist Steve Hackett umfasste.

Mit weltweit 150 Millionen verkauften Alben zählt Genesis zu den weltweit erfolgreichsten Musikern.
Ihre Diskografie umfasst 15 Studioalben und sechs Live-Alben.
Sie haben zahlreiche Auszeichnungen gewonnen (einschließlich eines Grammy Awards für das beste Konzeptmusikvideo mit "Land of Confusion") und haben eine Reihe von Tributbands inspiriert, die Genesis-Shows aus verschiedenen Phasen der Bandgeschichte nachspielen.
Im Jahr 2010 wurden Genesis in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen.
