Dial and Hands
The beautifully preserved silver-tone dial features an attractive subtle vertical brushed finish. It is detailed with applied faceted dart indices, an applied Omega logo, and clean, crisp printed text. Very minor signs of aging and spotting are visible only under magnification, maintaining a highly attractive overall presence. The original Dauphine-style hands display expected age-related oxidation, spotting, and surface wear on the metal finish, complementing the honest vintage character of the watch.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case retains strong overall geometry, featuring a polished finish and thick lugs that hold their shape well. It exhibits honest vintage wear, with moderate surface scratches and some minor nicks on the lug edges. A smooth polished bezel frames the dial, showing light surface scratches consistent with the rest of the case. The watch is fitted with a signed scalloped Omega crown that displays good definition on its knurling. A clear domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, free from any significant scratches, cracks, or crazing.
Movement
Inside beats the copper-colored Omega automatic caliber 500. Engraved with seventeen jewels and adjusted to two positions, the movement presents beautifully, with plates and bridges that appear very clean. The screw heads remain in good condition, and the rotor shows minimal wear. Timegrapher results show +11s+13s/day with strong amplitude. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is paired with a high-quality brown leather strap featuring an alligator-style pattern and contrasting white stitching. It appears to be in unworn or near-new condition, providing an elegant and comfortable fit on the wrist.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The watch presents beautifully, with a well-preserved brushed dial and a strong case showing honest, moderate wear and minor lug nicks. The original hands display natural oxidation, while the acrylic crystal remains clear. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 34mm in diameter (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This 1957 Seamaster offers a superb combination of mid-century design and robust mechanical performance. Its finely textured dial, clean copper-colored caliber 500, and strong case geometry make it a highly attractive addition to any vintage Omega collection.
History
Introduced in 1948 to celebrate Omega's centenary, the Seamaster line quickly became a pillar of the brand's catalog, known for its elegant yet durable designs. By the late 1950s, the collection had adopted the refined aesthetic seen in this example, characterized by robust lugs and handsome dial textures. The Caliber 500 series, introduced during this era, is highly regarded by collectors for its reliable automatic winding system and attractive copper-finished aesthetic, representing a golden age of Omega's mechanical watchmaking.
