Introduction Offered here is a vintage Grand Seiko reference 9587-8000, produced in 1989. The watch combines a slim stainless-steel case with an elegant champagne-tone dial and a matching Grand Seiko stainless-steel bracelet. Its refined proportions, clean applied indexes and understated appearance reflect the precision, practicality and restrained Japanese design for which Grand Seiko is respected. The watch is accompanied by its original inner and outer boxes, an unfilled warranty certificate and related documents shown in the photographs. Historical & Collector Value Grand Seiko was established as Seiko’s premium watchmaking line, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, legibility and careful finishing. This example dates from 1989, an important period in the history of Japanese quartz watchmaking. Grand Seiko quartz models from this era demonstrate how Seiko applied its advanced electronic timekeeping technology to watches designed for its highest-grade collection. Reference 9587-8000 is particularly attractive for its slim profile, champagne-tone dial, applied baton indexes, framed date aperture and sharply defined stainless-steel case. The original bracelet is fitted with a signed GS clasp. The survival of the watch together with its original presentation boxes, unfilled warranty certificate and related documents adds further collector interest. Please note that the warranty certificate contains no dealer, purchaser or purchase-date information and is not a valid current warranty. The bracelet currently fits a wrist of approximately 18 cm. The crown, time-setting function, hands and date display have been checked. A new battery has been installed, and all functions are currently operating correctly. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. Service History The watch has been fully function-tested, fitted with a new battery, and confirmed to be operating correctly. Several old service labels are present inside the case back. These appear to indicate that the watch was opened in the past for battery replacement, inspection, maintenance or another service procedure. The visible markings appear to indicate approximately: November 2001 January 2004 April 2006 However, the labels alone do not confirm the exact work carried out. No corresponding service invoice or detailed repair record is included. For this reason, the watch is not being described as recently overhauled, and a complete movement overhaul cannot be guaranteed based solely on the internal labels. The labels do, however, suggest that the watch received periodic attention during its previous ownership. A new battery has recently been installed, and the watch is currently functioning normally. As with any vintage quartz watch, future accuracy, battery life and water resistance cannot be permanently guaranteed. Although the case back is marked “Water Resistant,” no current pressure-test certificate is included.
