Welcome to my Top Swiss Chronographs Boutique! Founded by Louis-François Cartier in Paris in 1847, this name is icon of haute style forewer. Cartier is regarded as one of most prestigious jewellery manufacturers worldwide. In 2018, it is ranked by Forbes as the world's 59th most valuable brand. Cartier has proud, long history of sales to royalty; the watchmaker has perhaps the most enviable historical claim of any watch brand: purveyor of the first men’s wristwatch, the Cartier Santos, in 1911. Sure, Rolex and others have some notable technological innovations, but Cartier started it all. According to lore, Thami El Glaoui, the Pasha of Marrakesh, needed an active watch. He wanted a timepiece that was tough enough to wear while swimming, but elegant enough to match his royal duties. In response, Louis Cartier created a special waterproof watch in 1932.While a few custom pieces were made in the 1930s, the official "Pasha de Cartier" collection as we know it today was launched for the public in 1985. Renowned designer Gérald Genta (who also designed the famous Audemars Piguet Royal Oak) styled the 1985 version, making it a bold, oversized status symbol. The Pasha has a very unique look compared to other Cartier watches: - large, round, and flat case - Crown Cap: the winding crown (the knob used to set the time) is sealed with a cap to keep water out, and it is attached to the watch case by a tiny, elegant chain. - dial details: it features a "Vendôme" style case with four distinctive square links (or lugs) where the band attaches to the watch. - early versions also had a metal grid you could clip over the glass. The Cartier Pasha 2377 is one of the more interesting modern Pasha references and, in my opinion, one of the best value GMT watches Cartier has produced: - Distinctive "globe" guilloché dial. - Blued sword hands. - Reliable ETA-based GMT movement that's inexpensive to service compared with many in-house calibres. - Classic Pasha design with the signature chained crown cap. - Considerably rarer than standard Pasha C models. Owners generally praise it as an overlooked Cartier with excellent everyday wearability and unique styling.
