Vase - Bronze - China - Qing Dynastie (1644-1911) - haishui wen (Ohne mindestpreis)
An elegant Chinese bronze vase with a finely balanced pear-shaped body, a long, gently waisted neck and a broad rounded rim. The surface has developed a deep dark-brown patina, with natural wear and marks and dents consistent with age. Photos are part of the description.
The upper neck is decorated with a carved band of repeating stylized wave motifs, known in Chinese ornament as haishui wen. This traditional sea-wave design symbolizes flowing water, continuity, harmony and prosperity. The repeated curved lines create a subtle sense of movement and form an attractive contrast with the vase’s otherwise restrained surface.
The vase was constructed from a hollow bronze body, produced in the form of a tube. The lower opening was then closed with a softer metal, in this case lead (Pb). This was a practical manufacturing method, as lead could be fitted and worked more easily than bronze.
The vase will be carefully packed, shipped with insurance and signature on arrival.
The original studiophotos can be send to you after the purchase.
