Velledalen lenestolfabrikk - Loungesessel (2) - Holz

Pair of Norwegian Mid-Century Lounge Chairs – Attributed Velledalen – Flamingo Related – c.1960 Rare and highly sculptural pair of Norwegian Mid-Century Modern lounge chairs, dating from approximately the late 1950s–1960s. The chairs were found in the Sunnmøre/Sykkylven region of Norway, historically one of the country's most important centres of furniture production. Their construction and distinctive design show strong similarities to furniture produced by Velledalen Lenestolfabrikk, particularly the documented Flamingo series from around 1960. Notable similarities include the unusual three-legged construction, sculptural upholstered shell back, open sides, loose seat cushion and tapered wooden legs. The exact model has not yet been identified, and no manufacturer's label has been found. They are therefore offered as attributed to Velledalen Lenestolfabrikk rather than as a confirmed attribution. The construction is particularly interesting: the upholstered back structure is attached to the seat using traditional wooden wedge joints rather than conventional screws. An unusual surviving pair with a highly distinctive organic Scandinavian profile. DETAILS Set: 2 matching lounge chairs Origin: Norway Region: Sunnmøre / Sykkylven Period: c. 1955–1965 Attribution: Velledalen Lenestolfabrikk Series: Closely related to the Flamingo series Style: Scandinavian Modern / Mid-Century Modern Construction: Upholstered timber frame with wedged joints Legs: Three tapered wooden legs per chair Seat: Removable upholstered cushion DIMENSIONS – EACH CHAIR Height: approx. 75 cm Width: approx. 60 cm Depth: approx. 55 cm CONDITION Good vintage condition considering their age. Both chairs are solid and stable. The upholstery, wooden legs and other surfaces show normal traces of age and use. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description. Sold as a pair. Provenance / Attribution Note The chairs were found locally in Sunnmøre, close to Sykkylven and the historic Norwegian furniture-manufacturing district. Their relationship to Velledalen's documented Flamingo designs is compelling, but the exact model has not yet been identified. The attribution should therefore be considered probable rather than definitive. Shipping Due to their size, shipping must be arranged specifically for the buyer's destination. Careful packing and tracked transport can be arranged. Insurance will be used. Local collection is also possible.
