The icon, 20th century, approx. 32 x 27 x 1,8 cm, wooden panel. This Russian family icon features a unique assembly of saints. At the center, the Guardian Angel stands on a cloud in an orant prayer posture. To the left stand St. Sergius of Radonezh holding a scroll and St. Alexius, Metropolitan of Moscow, wearing a mitre, with St. Tatiana of Rome behind them. To the right are the Chief Apostles Peter, holding keys, and Paul, holding the Gospel, with St. Mary of Egypt standing behind. The upper celestial zone depicts the Mother of God "of the Sign" beneath the New Testament Holy Trinity. Four additional patron saints are painted on the borders. The icon is rendered in the academic, naturalistic style, beautifully uniting the heavenly intercessors of the household. The icon is hand-painted in very good condition.
