The exceptionally clean vertically brushed silver dial, featuring a striking printed atom logo and symmetrical red date display, makes this an incredibly charismatic vintage piece for collectors of experimental electronic watchmaking. Brand: Rado Model: Marstron Reference Number: 71023992 Movement: ESA 9154 Dynotron electronic balance wheel, 13 jewels Dial: Silver vertically brushed with applied indices, atom logo, and red date at 6 o'clock Case Size: 37 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless Steel Production Year: 1970s Condition: Excellent vintage condition. An applied Rado anchor logo sits proudly below twelve o'clock, while the lower half of the dial is defined by the distinctive printed atom logo and a symmetrical date window at six o'clock displaying striking red numerals. The sweep second hand remains clean, and the entire dial presents brilliantly with no significant spotting, staining, or visible damage. Case and Crystal The stainless steel tonneau-shaped case is presented in honest vintage condition, featuring a brushed top surface that transitions into polished flanks. The case geometry retains reasonably defined edges, showing light scratches and handling marks consistent with normal wear and age. Movement Inside is the historically significant ESA 9154 Dynotron electronic balance wheel movement. The caliber appears very clean, displaying no visible corrosion or significant marks. The movement bridges are engraved with RADO ELECTRONIC, THIRTEEN 13 JEWELS SWISS UNADJUSTED, 9154, and LIC. ATO, confirming its electro-mechanical heritage. A battery is currently present in the movement. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel link bracelet. It is secured by a clasp that is clearly signed with the Rado name and anchor logo. This period-correct bracelet shows moderate surface scratches and wear consistent with its age, and accommodates a maximum wrist size of 18 cm. Condition Excellent vintage condition. The exceptionally clean silver dial and matching hands are wonderfully preserved, showing minimal signs of aging. The stainless steel case and integrated bezel remain in good shape, exhibiting light scratches and normal wear while retaining their defined cushion geometry. The original signed bracelet shows moderate surface scratches consistent with use. The electronic movement presents beautifully with clean surfaces and clear engravings. Dimensions The case measures 37 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Rado Marstron is a highly compelling collector favourite thanks to its charismatic atom dial graphic and symmetrical layout. The combination of the vertically brushed silver dial, vibrant red date numerals, and the historically important ESA 9154 electronic movement makes this a standout addition to any vintage portfolio. History During the 1970s, the Swiss watch industry experienced a period of intense innovation as traditional mechanical watchmaking met the dawn of the electronic era. Rado, always a brand willing to push boundaries in both design and technology, embraced this transition with models like the Marstron. Powered by the ESA Dynotron series, a family of movements that utilized a traditional balance wheel driven by electromagnetism rather than a mainspring, these watches represented the cutting edge of transitional horology before quartz technology fully dominated the market. Today, these electro-mechanical pieces are highly valued by collectors for their unique place in watchmaking history and their unapologetically space-age design language. Payment and Shipping Payment must be completed within 1–3 days after purchase. Your watch will be professionally and securely packaged, then shipped with tracking and insurance for your peace of mind. We use fast express shipping, with typical delivery within 1–4 business days, depending on the destination. Please note that vintage watches may show minor signs of wear, aging, or imperfections, which are considered normal for watches of this age. We kindly ask you to review all photos carefully before bidding. We photograph each watch from multiple angles to provide the most accurate representation possible, and the photos form an important part of the description. The timegrapher assessment if provided is seen as an indication of the movement’s condition under fully wound testing conditions. As with all vintage watches, results may vary in daily use. If you have any concerns regarding functionality or defects after delivery, please contact us within 3 days of receiving the watch so we can assist you.
