Serge Jacques was a French photographer active in postwar Paris, known for photographing Saint-Germain-des-Prés, jazz musicians, cabaret culture, Paris nightlife, and mid-century nude imagery. His work belongs to the same wider visual world that made postwar Paris synonymous with jazz, bohemian life, and French glamour photography, combining documentary observation with a polished, sensual approach to the body. Closely associated with Paris-Hollywood and related publications, Jacques produced images that evoke the atmosphere of the Left Bank as well as the elegance and erotic charge of vintage French charm photography.
