Omega - Trench Watch 24 hour enamel dial - Herren - 1900-1949

Omega Trench-Style Cushion Wristwatch – 24-Hour Dial – Cal. 26.5 SOB – Circa 1927 Rare and highly charismatic early Omega trench-style wristwatch, dating from approximately 1927, displaying many of the characteristic design elements inherited directly from the First World War trench-watch era. The watch features a superb cushion-shaped case with fixed wire lugs, a classic configuration associated with the earliest generations of men’s wristwatches. Its most striking feature is the beautiful period-style dial, combining large black Arabic numerals with an attractive red 13–24 hour military scale, together with subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock. The skeletonised hands complete the unmistakable military/trench-watch aesthetic. Inside is an early Omega manual-winding calibre 26.5 SOB, signed: OMEGA Watch Co Swiss 15 Jewels Adjusted Two Positions Fifteen Jewels The inside of the case bears Swiss manufacturing markings, the Omega-related case-maker emblem and the inscription: MÉTAL – GARANTI 10 ANS The case is therefore described as a silver-tone base-metal case, most likely with a period nickel-type finish. The watch retains a wonderful authentic vintage appearance, with visible wear, scratches and marks accumulated over almost a century. These signs of age contribute greatly to its historical character and have deliberately not been removed by polishing. Particularly attractive details include: * Early Omega manual-winding movement * Omega calibre 26.5 SOB * 15 jewels * Cushion-shaped case * Fixed wire lugs * Black Arabic numerals * Red 13–24 hour military scale * Small seconds at 6 o’clock * Skeletonised period-style hands * Swiss-made case * Strong trench-watch / military aesthetic This is a fascinating survivor from the period when the wristwatch was evolving from the military trench watches of the First World War into the elegant cushion-shaped wristwatches of the Art Deco era. A very appealing and increasingly difficult-to-find early Omega, particularly attractive to collectors of trench watches, military-style watches, early Omega wristwatches and Art Deco horology. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description and provide the best representation of the watch’s condition and originality.
