Keltisch Bronze Amulet, Pendant, Rare Celtic Bronze Amulet with Ring-Shaped Solar Symbol — Ancient Talisman of Protection and the - 25 mm (Ohne mindestpreis)

An intriguing Celtic bronze amulet, dating approximately to the 2nd century BC – 1st century AD, distinguished by an unusual geometric composition dominated by a large open ring. Despite its compact dimensions of 25 × 16 mm, the pendant has a substantial weight of 3.48 g, giving it a remarkably solid presence for such a small personal object. The design is carefully organized around a large circular opening enclosed by a heavy bronze border. Above it is a horizontal element terminating in two symmetrical lateral projections, together with a rectangular opening through which the amulet could be suspended. A distinctive diamond-shaped projection completes the lower part of the composition and gives the pendant a strong vertical balance. The Circle — An Ancient Symbol Without Beginning or End Circular forms occupied an important place in the visual language of ancient European cultures. The circle was naturally associated with the passage of time, celestial movement, the sun, continuity and the recurring cycles of nature. The large central ring is clearly the dominant visual feature of this particular amulet. Combined with the open spaces and symmetrical geometry of the pendant, it creates a powerful small symbol whose meaning to its ancient owner may have been connected with protection, prosperity and the cyclical order of the world. A Personal Object That Survived Two Millennia Small bronze objects of this kind are particularly fascinating because they belonged to the intimate world of the individual rather than to monumental architecture or public display. Such an amulet could be suspended from a cord and carried close to its owner during journeys, trade, everyday work or military activity. The surface has acquired a particularly attractive natural green archaeological patina, accompanied by darker areas, mineral deposits and traces of prolonged burial. Rather than obscuring the object, these features emphasize its antiquity and archaeological character. The openings remain well preserved and the unusual geometric silhouette is still clearly recognizable. Details Culture: Celtic Object: Amulet / Pendant Material: Bronze Period: 2nd Century BC – 1st Century AD Dimensions: 25 × 16 mm Weight: 3.48 g Condition: Authentic archaeological condition with natural green patina, age-related wear, mineral deposits and minor surface corrosion. Provenance: Acquired on the European antiquities market. From a private collection. Shipping: European Union only. Leather cord included. A Symbol Whose Meaning Outlived Its Owner The precise meaning intended by the ancient craftsman can no longer be reconstructed with certainty. Yet its dominant circle, deliberate symmetry and suspension design demonstrate that this was an object created to be carried and seen. The circle — continuity. The open space — transition. The symmetry — balance. More than two thousand years ago, this small bronze object accompanied an individual through an entirely different world. Today, it survives as an evocative witness to the symbolic traditions of ancient Celtic Europe. A rare and visually distinctive Celtic bronze amulet, particularly appealing for collections of Celtic antiquities, ancient European archaeology and early protective pendants.
