This is a highly aesthetic Fluorite and Arsenopyrite specimen from the famous Yaogangxian Mine in Hunan, China, one of the world’s classic localities for exceptional Fluorite specimens. The specimen is dominated by large, lustrous Fluorite crystals displaying an intense combination of deep violet, blue and lighter translucent tones. The strong colour zoning and glassy lustre give the crystals remarkable depth and vibrancy, especially under direct light. Adding a striking metallic contrast is a prominent, sharply formed and naturally terminated Arsenopyrite crystal positioned on the upper part of the specimen. The terminated Arsenopyrite crystal measures approximately 2 × 1.1 cm and displays a beautiful silvery-steel metallic lustre. Its well-defined termination stands out beautifully against the vivid blue-violet Fluorite. The combination of strongly coloured Fluorite with a distinct, terminated Arsenopyrite crystal gives this specimen an excellent three-dimensional appearance and a very attractive overall composition.
