Wandlampe - Aluminium, Glas - Solides Glas

Sculptural Solid Glass Square Wall Lamp, 1980s A wonderfully abstract and unusually substantial and heavy solid glass table lamp, most probably dating from the 1980s. From a distance, the design is very graphic: a luminous square of glass surrounding a perfect black central square, giving the lamp the character of a logo or three-dimensional geometric symbol. Its simplicity makes it strikingly architectural. Up close, however, the glass becomes much more expressive. The thick body has softly rounded edges and is filled with small air bubbles. An opaque, almost ice-like white layer appears suspended within the clearer outer glass, creating depth and a beautifully frosted effect. When illuminated, the entire block takes on a warm glow, while the black square remains sharply defined at its centre. The contrast is particularly good: hard geometry from afar, softened by the almost liquid quality of the glass at close range. The bubbles, rounded corners and shifting transparency prevent the minimalist form from ever feeling severe. It is an exceptionally heavy and tactile piece, with the weight and presence of a glass sculpture rather than an ordinary lamp. Maker is possibly Glashutte Limburg (no identification marks) Condition: Very good vintage condition, with only minor signs of age and use. Dimensions: H 28 × W 28 × D 12 cm | H 11.0 × W 11.0 × D 4.7 in
