Set von 4 klassifizierten HED-Meteoriten (1 x Howardit, 2 x Eucriten & 1 x Diogenit) - vom - 74 g
A complete set of high-quality HED meteorites is offered for sale:
Howardite: Bechar 008 (pictures 1 & 2) – 32.5 grams. A few rather obvious metallic inclusions, likely derived from the impactor, can be observed within its matrix.
Diogenite (polymict breccia, pictures 3 & 4): NWA 15788 (last picture) – 23 grams (the initial weight of the diogenite was 25 grams, but this was reduced to approximately 23 grams after further polishing). A few smaller metallic inclusions, likely derived from the impactor, can be observed within its matrix.
Eucrite (monomict breccia, pictures 5, 6, 7 & 8): NWA 15244 – 9.28 grams + 9.88 grams.
HED meteorites (Howardites, Eucrites, and Diogenites) are achondritic differentiated meteorites believed to originate primarily from the asteroid 4 Vesta. They are thought to have formed through igneous processes within a differentiated parent body, making them valuable samples of the crust and upper interior of a small planetary body. They have an estimated crystallisation age of approximately 4.56 billion years, making them significantly older than our planet.
Eucrites are basaltic rocks formed from crystallised lava. Diogenites are coarse-grained plutonic rocks dominated by orthopyroxene. Finally, howardites are polymict breccias composed mainly of fragments of eucritic and diogenitic material. Together, these three groups provide important insights into the geological evolution, magmatic history, and impact processes that shaped Vesta and other differentiated asteroids.
All meteorites come with several certificates of authenticity documenting their chain of ownership. I am a member of the Meteoritical Society (#7743), the Global Meteorite Association (#G0129) and have been collecting meteorites for more than 16 years.
