Often associated with Lightning Ridge, these remarkable opals can display vibrant greens, blues, reds, oranges and every shade in between, creating an incredible contrast against the darker background. ### Metaphysical Qualities In crystal and metaphysical traditions, Black Opal is often regarded as a powerful stone of **protection, transformation and personal strength**. It is believed by some to help absorb negative energy while encouraging a stronger connection with intuition and inner awareness. Black Opal is traditionally associated with: * **Protection & grounding** – believed to help create a protective energetic barrier and promote emotional grounding. * **Intuition** – often regarded as a stone that encourages inner awareness, instinct and spiritual insight. * **Transformation** – associated with personal growth, change and leaving behind old patterns. * **Confidence & creativity** – believed to encourage self-expression, imagination and confidence. * **Emotional balance** – traditionally thought to help bring deeper emotions to the surface and encourage emotional understanding. * **Passion & motivation** – associated with inspiration, determination and embracing new opportunities. ### A Stone of Mystery & Individuality Black Opal has a unique character that makes every specimen different. Its dark natural body tone provides a dramatic canvas for the play-of-colour, meaning each stone can reveal its colours differently as it moves in the light.
