The circular paperweight features an engraved anamorphic composition inspired by an original 18th-century engraving by the German artist Elias Baeck (1679–1749). The engraved inscription explains that the hidden image becomes visible when viewed through a cylindrical mirror, revealing the allegorical figure of Europa. The piece bears the engraved facsimile signature of André Bouilhet, then President of Christofle, together with the Christofle France hallmark and silverplate marks. The reverse retains its original felt base, confirming its intended use as an elegant desk paperweight or can be used as a bottle holder.
