An elegeant French ormolu (mercury gilt bronze) skeleton clock preserved in excellent condition. France, Directoire period, late 18th century, about 1795-1803. Very rare, top quality model, notice quality of gilding, casting and chiseling! Finely executed fire-gilt bronze case with shiny and matt surfaces, movement located in the top part, under the floral finial, mounted on a annular plane with urn finials supported by four shaped columns, annular base raised on turned feet. 10.4-cm enamel chapter ring with black Roman numerals for hours and Arabic for minutes (each 15), finely pierced and engraved gilt hands, good technical quality Parisian countwheel bell striking anchor movement with silk suspended sunburst pendulum. Clock comes with the winding key. Dimensions: height - 37,8 cm; width - 13,2 cm; depth - 13,1 cm. Weight - 1,8 kg. Conditions report: case in excellent original condition, no missing parts. Gilding on bronzes in amazing condition considering the age, with some minimal wear. Dial in very good condition, with tiny chip to the edge, at XII.
