Mittelalterlich Bronze Signet-Ring mit rotem Cabochon (Ohne mindestpreis)

A handsome Medieval bronze signet ring set with a striking rectangular red cabochon stone, likely red glass, carnelian, or another semi-precious material. The warm crimson gemstone, framed within a substantial rectangular bezel, gives the ring an elegant and distinguished appearance characteristic of personal jewellery worn during the High and Late Middle Ages. The shoulders of the ring are decorated with finely engraved linear motifs that enhance its refined craftsmanship. The deep red stone displays an attractive translucent quality when illuminated, while retaining authentic age-related surface wear and historic scratches that testify to centuries of use. Throughout the medieval period, red gemstones were highly prized and often symbolized courage, authority, vitality, and protection. Rings of this style were worn by merchants, craftsmen, minor nobility, and members of the emerging urban elite, serving both as personal adornment and as symbols of status and identity. The bronze retains an attractive dark archaeological patina with excellent preservation of the decorative details. The original stone remains securely set within the bezel, contributing greatly to the historical authenticity and visual appeal of the piece. Condition: Very good archaeological condition with a beautiful natural patina. Original red cabochon stone showing expected age-related wear, surface scratches, and minor historic imperfections consistent with its antiquity. Provenance: Acquired from a European private collection; formerly part of an old collection assembled before 2000. A beautiful and wearable Medieval signet ring, combining elegant bronze craftsmanship with a rich crimson gemstone, making it a fine collector's piece and an evocative reminder of medieval European jewellery traditions.
