Hamilton's history Founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Hamilton built its name on railroad timekeeping, where an inaccurate watch meant a collision. It became known as The Watch of Railroad Accuracy, and the reputation carried it into military service: Hamilton supplied the US forces through both World Wars, and in 1942 halted civilian production entirely to make watches for the military. In 1957 it produced the Ventura — the world's first electric watch — later worn by Elvis Presley. Hamilton has appeared in more than 500 films, from 2001: A Space Odyssey to Interstellar. Manufacturing moved to Switzerland under the Swatch Group, and the watches have been Swiss Made since.
