Hiemstra & Evenblij - Hiemstra & Evenblij - Wandlampe - Stahl

Rare and highly decorative set of three original Perfolux wall lamps, designed by Hiemstra & Evenblij and produced by Ed. Hiemstra Evolux, Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1954. The lamps feature the characteristic folded pentagonal perforated-metal shades, creating a beautiful pattern of light and shadow when illuminated. This set is especially striking with two original yellow shades and one contrasting dark-red shade. A particularly appealing and uncommon set for collectors of Dutch Mid-Century Modern lighting. The combination of colours gives the three lamps a strong graphic presence, whether installed together as a group or individually. The lamps are in pre-loved vintage condition. All three are fully functional and show no dents or major damage. There is some authentic 75 years of patina and light user wear, mainly to the rear mounting brackets, consistent with their age and previous use. The original construction, wiring, switches and wall-mounting brackets have been retained. Each lamp will be supplied with a new E27 LED mirror bulb, ready to install and enjoy. The Perfolux design belongs to the post-war Dutch design tradition, where perforated metal was used not only as a structural material but also as a way of transforming light into a decorative architectural element. The resulting interplay of direct and filtered light is one of the defining characteristics of these lamps. Details / Specifications Designer: Niek Hiemstra & the Evenblij brothers Manufacturer: Hiemstra & Evenblij Model: Perfolux wall lamp Period: Approximately 1950s (approximately 75 years old) Style: Mid-Century Modern / Dutch Design Material: Perforated metal, lacquered steel Colours: 2 × yellow, 1 × dark red Fitting: E27 Bulbs: 3 × new E27 LED mirror bulbs included Dimensions per lamp: approx. 21.5 × 18.5 × 11 cm (h × w × d) Condition: Pre-loved vintage condition, with authentic patina and light signs of use to the rear; no dents or major damage Function: Fully functional Provenance & Architectural Specifications This lot represents a fully documented masterpiece of early post-war Dutch mid-century design. The provenance of this specific piece can be directly traced back to the rare, original first sales catalogue and promotional brochure issued by the firm N.V. v/h Hiemstra & Evenblij (Delft) between 1951–1952. The Perfolux series was envisioned by a collective design team including Niek Hiemstra, Hans Joachim Jülkenbeck, Hansje Raab, Ella Robertson, and Arie Vermeer. This item embodies the distinct features specified in the original 1951–1952 documentation: • The shade is crafted from signature, finely perforated metal ("Perfolux"), creating a subtle, highly sought-after graphic interplay of light and shadow on walls and surrounding spaces. • The load-bearing elements (such as the distinctive triangular wall bracket or frame) are made of minimalist bent steel, a hallmark of the factory's early Delft production period. The object is structurally and materially consistent with the manufacturing details verified by the 1951–1952 brochure, which serves as the ultimate authority for authenticating early Hiemstra & Evenblij creations. Please note: Fully functional, but as with all vintage electrical items, a safety check by a qualified professional is recommended before use.
