It is produced only in selected vintages and represents the estate’s ultimate expression of the legendary Hermitage hill. The wine comes from four exceptional vineyard parcels: Bessards, Greffieux, Murets and L’Hermite. The Syrah vines are approximately 50–90 years old and grow on a complex combination of granite, clay and alluvial soils. Following traditional vinification and a four-week maceration, the wine was matured for 42 months in new oak barrels produced by Guigal’s own cooperage. It was bottled without fining or filtration. The capsules are intact and show only minor signs of handling. The labels and vintage neck labels show some light marks, creasing and age-related wear. No visible signs of leakage.
