Kaminuhr - Franz Hermle - - Vergoldetes Kupfer - 1970-1980
Exceptional vintage German clock by Franz Hermle made at the beginning of the 20th century, a mantel clock with a repeater, in outstanding aesthetic and functional condition. The mechanism in this model is recognized as the Rolls Royce of mantel clocks. This clock is one of the first models produced by Franz Hermle, with a single strike at the half hour and striking the corresponding hour on the hour, made of solid brass with hand-painted porcelain numerals on the dial. The clock is richly decorated in the Baroque style and comes with its original key, used both for winding the gongs and for turning. The mechanism is clean and complete, including the special rear door. Time adjustment is done by gently moving the minute hand clockwise. Clocks of this type run for 8 days per winding, and the one available for sale set a record of 21 days per winding, thanks to the mechanism working flawlessly, which I suspect was used only for a short period in the past. The clock weighs 2.480 kg and has dimensions of 20/15/11.5 cm.
