Mittelalter, Epoche der Kreuzritter „Der Stern von Bethlehem“ — Der Pilger-Ring der göttlichen Führung. (Ohne mindestpreis)

The broad signet bezel carries an intriguing geometric emblem at its centre, formed from four looping arms arranged around a common point. The motif is enclosed within an angular diamond-like frame, while repeated incised strokes around the edges create the visual impression of rays emanating from a sacred central sign. Within a Crusader-period interpretation, this composition can evocatively be associated with the Star of Bethlehem, the celestial sign that, according to the Gospel of Matthew, guided the Magi toward Bethlehem. In later Christian symbolism, the star naturally became associated with guidance, revelation, hope and the journey toward the sacred. Comparable medieval rings have likewise been catalogued with Bethlehem-star interpretations. The surrounding geometric lines are particularly effective: they appear almost like beams of light enclosing and radiating from the central emblem. This gives the otherwise compact signet design a strong devotional and talismanic character. For a medieval pilgrim or traveller, such imagery would have carried an especially fitting message—the idea of a heavenly sign showing the path through an uncertain world.
