Ein Paar chinesischer Pith-Gemälde – Flusskunst - Papier - China - Qing Dynastie (1644-1911)
A pair of Chinese pith paintings of river craft, Canton, mid-19th century. Each shows a river craft: one appears to be a flat decked 'duck boat', with a woven bamboo or matting roof. Below the hull a large flock of small white ducks floats on the water. The other is a passenger houseboat, sometimes called a 'flower boat'. It has a green lattice-work cabin, a raised purple roof structure and an ornate carved and painted stern with a long pennant flying. A smaller orange sampan is on the left. Good condition.
Both are frmed and glazed within a modern gilt-wood frame. sightly scuffed in parts (see images). Sizes shown are for the frame size. The images themselves are 21.5x13.5cm.
