Seiko Champion - Champion Calendar - Ohne mindestpreis - 14380 - Herren - 1960-1969

Seiko Champion Calendar – Diashock 19 Jewels – Vintage Japanese Watch A particularly interesting vintage Seiko Champion Calendar, representing an important period in the development of Seiko's mechanical watchmaking during the early 1960s. The Champion line belongs to the generation of Seiko watches that preceded the company's later high-end developments such as Grand Seiko. Seiko's own history identifies the late 1950s and early 1960s as a period of rapid development in precision mechanical watchmaking, with technologies such as Diashock introduced to improve resistance to shocks and maintain stability of the movement. This particular watch is especially appealing from a collector's perspective because of its elegant silver sunburst dial, applied faceted hour markers, distinctive dauphine-style hands and the beautifully framed red date display at 3 o'clock. The dial has a very attractive radial sunburst finish which changes considerably depending on the angle of light. The original typography and applied markers remain clearly defined, giving the watch a particularly refined mid-century Japanese appearance. Collector's Highlights - Seiko Champion Calendar - 19-jewel mechanical Seikosha movement - Diashock shock protection - Attractive silver sunburst dial - Applied, faceted hour markers - Elegant vintage hands - Distinctive red date indication with double frame - Original vintage dial and hands - Caseback marked STAINLESS STEEL BACK / 14380 - Representative of Seiko's important early-1960s mechanical watchmaking period The Champion Calendar is an interesting part of Seiko's pre-Grand Seiko era. Contemporary examples from this family are documented from the early 1960s, including 19-jewel versions, making these watches particularly interesting to collectors who appreciate Seiko's development before and around the beginning of the Grand Seiko era. note(ノート) Condition & Function The watch is fully functional and running, and it keeps time. Dial: Very good overall condition. The silver sunburst surface remains attractive and distinctive, with natural signs of age that are consistent with a vintage watch. Crystal: Shows age-related wear and fine scratches. It is not in NOS condition, but remains clear enough to enjoy the dial. Case: Shows visible signs of age and previous use, including scratches and wear around the case and lugs. These imperfections are clearly visible in the photographs and have deliberately been left as part of the watch's vintage character. Caseback: Original-style stainless steel back marked: STAINLESS STEEL BACK 14380 A Genuine Vintage Seiko with Character This is not presented as a freshly refinished or cosmetically restored watch. Its appeal lies in its authentic vintage character, original dial design and the history represented by the Champion Calendar line. For a collector of vintage Seiko, it offers an opportunity to own a watch from the period when Seiko was rapidly developing the mechanical technology and design language that would eventually lead to the legendary Grand Seiko.
