Jadeit-Anhänger, chinesisch geschnitzter Jade-Drache Chilong - Nephrit-Jade - China - Republik Periode (1912 - 1949)

Chinese Carved Jadeite Pendant, Dragon-Tortoise (Longgui) with Chilong Motif, Apple Green & Russet Jade, 20th Century A finely carved Chinese jadeite pendant of rectangular, gourd-topped form, worked in deep relief with genuine openwork piercing throughout the design. The main motif shows a sinuous, dragon-like creature with a diamond-textured shell-like back and a long curling tail — reading as a dragon-tortoise (longgui), a traditional Chinese auspicious hybrid combining the strength of the dragon with the longevity of the tortoise. Above, a double gourd with trailing leaves is accompanied by a creature likely a Chilong in a warm russet-yellow tone. The jadeite itself shows striking three-tone colouring: mottled apple-green through a pale lavender-grey ground, with rich egg-yolk-yellow to russet skin tones apparently used deliberately by the carver to accent the tail and the small animal figure. The jade was likely hand dyed (injected) to make it look more appealing. It is very well carved for a 20th century piece and has a good weight to it. Material: Jadeite Measurements: 9cm (L) x 5.5–6cm (W) x 0.5cm (depth) Weight: 71g
