Figurine - Porcelain half-dolls (pair) (2) - Porzellan

Antique German Porcelain Half Dolls – Lot of 2 – Possible Carl Schneider Erben – DEP Mark – Circa 1920 A charming and collectible pair of antique porcelain half dolls, believed to date from the early 20th century, circa 1910–1930. This attractive lot includes a larger, elaborately sculpted Rococo / Marie Antoinette-style lady, possibly attributable to the renowned German porcelain manufacturer Carl Schneider Erben, together with a smaller, beautifully hand-painted lady wearing a yellow dress. Both dolls display delicate period styling, expressive facial features and fine porcelain craftsmanship. Doll 1 – Large Rococo Lady – Possible Carl Schneider Erben An impressive antique porcelain half doll featuring an elegant lady in the 18th-century Rococo / Marie Antoinette style. She has a beautifully sculpted powdered grey-white hairstyle adorned with pink and purple bows, finely painted facial features, rosy cheeks and delicately coloured lips. Her graceful pose features both arms raised in front of her, with elegantly positioned hands and fingers. The intricate modelling and unusually expressive pose make her an attractive example of early German half-doll production. Manufacturer’s markings: The porcelain bears an impressed DEP marking, with a faint, slanted symbol positioned above it. This marking and symbol may be consistent with those associated with Carl Schneider Erben of Gräfenthal, Germany. However, the manufacturer’s attribution has not been definitively confirmed. Model number 15273. Condition: The doll retains attractive original colouring and detailing, with age-related wear. There is damage and repair to the elbow and wrist, which is reflected in the condition and should be considered by prospective buyers. Please examine the detailed photographs. Dimensions: * Height: 10.5 cm * Width: 4 cm * Depth: 4 cm Doll 2 – Miniature Lady in Yellow Dress – Serial Number 23913 A delightful smaller antique porcelain half doll depicting an elegant lady wearing a vibrant yellow dress with white detailing and delicate blue bows. The base features the traditional sewing holes associated with antique pincushion half dolls. Markings: Impressed serial/model number 23913. Condition: Attractive original colouring with general age-related wear. Please refer to the photographs for a full assessment of condition. Dimensions: * Height: 6 cm * Width: 2 cm * Depth: 2 cm Collectors’ Information Antique porcelain half dolls were popular decorative and functional accessories during the early 20th century, frequently incorporated into pincushions, boudoir accessories and other decorative textile items.
