A centerpiece bowl by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), Geislingen an der Steige, Germany, made in the Jugendstil style characteristic of the firm's output from approximately 1895 to 1910. WMF was one of the foremost European producers of silverplated decorative metalwork in this period, and their Jugendstil centerpiece bowls, combining organic metalwork frames with fitted glass liners, were made for the bourgeois dining table. The metal surround is silverplated, not solid silver, with organic or foliate ornament in the Jugendstil idiom; the glass insert is present. No restoration or re-plating is apparent. The base bears WMF's impressed maker's mark; no solid silver hallmarks are present as this is a plated object. Dimensions have not been supplied by the seller and must be confirmed before purchase.
