Bronzezeit Bronze Arrowhead Group (3) (Ohne mindestpreis)
A group of three Bronze Age bronze arrowheads, all featuring a triangular blade with a prominent mid-rib and a short stem leading to a long narrow tang. One arrowhead displays a square-sectioned stem and a shorter tang, whilst the other two have sharp barbs. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Chips to the edges of the blades. Crack and warping to the barbs of one of the barbed arrowheads.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons.
Measurements: L 13.3-15.6cm x W 2.2-2.7cm
Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
