Truhe (2) - Eisen - Set aus zwei Reisekoffern

Description: A beautiful, highly decorative and heavy set of two authentic antique wrought iron travel trunks / luggage boxes with domed lids and sturdy metal carrying handles. Crafted in the classic European Folk Art tradition (Arts & Crafts movement), likely of Belgian or French origin, dating back to the late 19th or early 20th century. These iron boxes were originally designed as heavy travel luggage / stagecoach trunks for passengers to secure their belongings during long journeys. They elegantly fit perfectly inside one another, suggesting they are part of a rare original 3-piece nesting travel set (where a third, larger box might have existed). The smaller box features exceptional, vibrant hand-painted colorful floral bouquets (roses) on the front and the lid, beautifully accented by subtle golden garlands. The larger box is elegantly decorated with gold-colored hand-painted borders and highlights, retaining a strong, authentic historic character. Both trunks are highly robust, made of solid thick iron (total weight 3 kg), and still feature their original front iron latches. Dimensions & Weight: - Larger trunk: 31 cm x 34 cm x 24 cm (Weight: 1850 g) - Smaller trunk: 29 cm x 31 cm x 21 cm (Weight: 1250 g) Total weight: 3 kg. Condition: Both trunks are in excellent antique structure and condition, perfectly preserved given their age. The iron bodies are completely intact with no structural damage. The only minor signs of time are light, natural age-related corrosion and an honest vintage patina, which only adds to their authentic historical character. Please inspect the photos closely for details.
