Tintenfass - Messing, Keramik, Knochen

An attractive late Victorian brass desk inkwell, dating to the late 19th century, circa 1900. The decorative brass base is richly ornamented with scrolling foliage and stylised floral motifs, with contrasting dark patination highlighting the raised details. The hinged, domed lid is surmounted by a pointed finial and opens to reveal a removable white porcelain ink reservoir. The shaped base incorporates an integral pen rest and is accompanied by a finely turned natural bone dip pen holder with a metal nib fitting. A charming example of period desk furniture, combining elaborate Victorian ornamentation with practical functionality. The brass retains an attractive aged patina, with surface wear and oxidation consistent with age. The porcelain insert appears intact, without visible chips or cracks. The bone pen holder shows age-related discolouration, while the metal fitting displays signs of oxidation and wear. Good antique condition, with wear and patination consistent with age and use. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an integral part of the description.
