Vintage Oris Super Swiss mechanical wristwatch, dating approximately from the 1960s. A very characteristic mid-century Oris with glossy black dial, applied gold-tone hour markers and hands, central seconds and framed date window at 3 o’clock. The movement is signed “ORIS WATCH CO. SWISS – SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS” and clearly marked calibre 484 KIF. SPECIFICATIONS: • Brand: Oris • Model: Super • Swiss Made • Mechanical movement • Oris calibre 484 KIF • 17 jewels • KIF shock protection • Date at 3 o’clock • Black dial • Gold-tone applied indices and hands • Signed ORIS crown • Gold-plated case – 10 microns • Stainless-steel case back • Black leather strap The case back is marked “Carrure Plaqué G 10 Microns”, confirming the 10-micron gold-plated case construction, together with stainless-steel back. HISTORY: Oris was founded in Hölstein, Switzerland in 1904 and became one of the important producers of affordable Swiss mechanical watches during the 20th century. The Super series represents the classic post-war Oris style, combining robust Swiss movements with elegant everyday case and dial designs. CONDITION: The watch is in genuine vintage condition and shows visible signs of age and use. The black dial retains an attractive original vintage appearance but shows scratches, marks and age-related wear. The applied markers and hands also show ageing. The gold plating shows noticeable wear, particularly around the case edges and lugs, with surface scratches and loss of plating in some areas. The crystal also shows age-related marks and scratches. The leather strap is a later replacement. No recent documented service history is available. As this is a vintage mechanical watch, long-term accuracy and power reserve cannot be guaranteed. A service may be advisable if precise daily timekeeping is required. The “Waterproof” marking is historical only. Water resistance has not been tested and should not be assumed. The photographs form an integral part of the description and show the actual watch being sold. Please examine them carefully before bidding. SHIPPING: Carefully packed and shipped from the United Kingdom with tracked delivery. Any customs duties, import VAT, taxes, handling charges or other import-related costs applicable in the destination country are entirely the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in the purchase or shipping price.
