Orient - Star - Ohne mindestpreis - NR0R-Q0 - Damen - 1990-1999
Orient Star Automatic, case NR0R-Q0, calibre 55742, 21 jewels, running – salmon-pink sunray dial, date at 3 o'clock, display caseback, on its original Orient Star steel bracelet.
[IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ] The bracelet cannot be made longer. It is fitted at approximately 145 mm and the clasp has two spare micro-adjustment holes, which shorten it by about 6 mm, but there are no spare links included, so the bracelet will not fit a wrist larger than roughly 145 to 150 mm. Please check your wrist size before bidding.
PLEASE NOTE: the dial is a pale salmon pink rather than a true pink. Measured off the photographs with the white background in the same frame used to correct the white balance, the dial sits at a hue of 19 to 24 degrees with a saturation of only 19 to 22 per cent, which is a soft pink-beige on the orange side rather than the 330 to 350 degrees of a true pink. Catawiki's nearest option is Salmon, which is what has been entered. The caseback is engraved WATER RESISTANT ALL STAINLESS STEEL but carries no bar or metre rating, and the gaskets have never been tested or replaced, so the watch is not water resistant and must be kept away from water; the gasket under the crystal has yellowed with age. The case number engraved on the caseback is NR0R-Q0, read directly from the watch; in the photographs the last two characters are hidden by the clasp and by the shooting angle. There is no individual serial number on the caseback and no sticker. The caseback is a display back, but it is not marked as sapphire anywhere, so no claim is made about its material. The lug width has not yet been measured with a caliper and is given below as an approximation.
Overview
A small Orient Star automatic for women, with the calibre and the jewel count confirmed on the movement itself: the rotor is engraved ORIENT on the inner ring and 55742, 21 JEWELS and JAPAN on the outer ring, matching the AUTOMATIC and 21 JEWELS printed on the dial. The dial is the feature of the watch – a soft salmon pink with a radial sunray brushing that lifts and drops as it catches the light, carrying the oval Orient Star crest with its script S, the ORIENT STAR name, and applied Arabic numerals at 12, 9 and 6 with applied dart-shaped bars at the other hours. Each hour position has a round luminous dot on the outer edge, and a one-minute track with five-minute numerals runs round the dial. The date sits in a raised polished frame at 3 o'clock. The case is solid stainless steel with a display caseback, the crown is a fluted push crown at 3 o'clock, and the bracelet is the original Orient Star bracelet with the same crest stamped on the clasp.

- Calibre: 55742, engraved on the rotor together with 21 JEWELS and JAPAN
- Date of manufacture: late 1990s to the early 2000s, estimated from the 557xx calibre family, the two-plus-two character Orient case code, the display caseback, and the older-style WATER RESISTANT ALL STAINLESS STEEL caseback wording with no numeric rating; the exact year is not documented and there is no serial number on the watch

- Case diameter: 30 mm excluding the crown
- Crystal: slightly domed above the bezel, with no scratches, chips or cracks found. The gasket beneath it has yellowed with age and is visible as a cream to yellow rim between 7 and 9 o'clock.
- Dial: salmon pink with a radial sunray brushing – see the note above for the measured values. Printed with the oval Orient Star crest and script S, ORIENT STAR below 12, and AUTOMATIC over 21 JEWELS above 6. The code at the foot of the dial is too small to read in the photographs.

- Hands: three – faceted lance-shaped polished hour and minute hands and a slim straight seconds hand with a counterpoise. The hands carry no luminous material; the luminous dots are on the dial only.
- Date: window at 3 o'clock in a raised polished frame, white disc with black numerals. There is no day – this is a date-only model.
- Water resistance: the caseback reads WATER RESISTANT with no numeric rating, and the gaskets have not been tested – see the note above

- Lug width: approximately 14 to 16 mm, estimated from the photographs – to be confirmed by measurement

- Weight: 55.39 g
- Included accessories: none
Condition
Good, with visible signs of wear.
- Dial: excellent. No crazing, no stains, no discolouration and no lifting of the markers were found under magnification, and the printing and the sunray brushing are crisp throughout.
- Markers and luminous dots: all present, firmly seated and free of corrosion.
- Crystal: no scratches, chips or cracks were found. The gasket beneath it has yellowed, as described above.
- Hands: all three straight and clean, with no corrosion and no lifting of the polish.
- Case: the left-hand side of the case, around the 9 o'clock position, carries several scratches together with small dents. These are the most significant marks on the watch. The lug tops and sides are scuffed from normal wear. No distortion, no corrosion and no green corrosion were found anywhere.
- Crown: intact and correctly seated, with the fluting complete and no chips or deformation.
- Movement, seen through the display back: clean, with no rust, no damage and nothing missing.
- Bracelet and clasp: no rust, no broken or missing links. The clasp cover carries one prominent curved scratch and fine hairlines across the whole of its surface, and the links are scuffed from normal wear. Stretch could not be assessed from the photographs.
Working order
The watch is running. It has been wound and checked by hand. In the photographs the seconds hand did not advance across 13.7 seconds of frames and then advanced normally over the following 9.2 seconds, which is simply what a nearly unwound mainspring does when handling restarts it; wound up, the watch runs. The power reserve, the automatic winding by the rotor, the hand winding, the date changeover, the timekeeping accuracy and the water resistance have not been tested with equipment, and the movement has not been serviced. Please consider this a used mechanical watch that may require servicing.
Included
Watch and bracelet only. No box, papers, warranty card, spare links or other accessories.
