Orient - Star - Ohne mindestpreis - 761576 - Unisex - 1990-1999
Orient Star Automatic, case 761576, 21 jewels, running – silver dial with applied numerals at 12, 9 and 6, date, 10 bar, display caseback, on its original Orient Star steel bracelet with three spare links.
PLEASE NOTE: there is deposit on the watch. Yellow to brown build-up – old dirt or dried grease – sits in the groove around the edge of the caseback and around the lugs and the spring bars. It is cosmetic rather than corrosion; there is no rust and no green corrosion anywhere on the watch. There is also a band of small dents with slight lifting along the upper edge of the end piece at the 6 o'clock side of the case. Both are described under Condition below and are the reason this is graded Good rather than Very good. The number 761576 engraved on the caseback is Orient's case number, not a calibre number; the rotor and the bridges carry no calibre or jewel-count engraving, so the 21 jewels stated here comes from the dial printing. The code AK56703 in the seller's title is not engraved anywhere on the watch. The caseback is marked W.R. 10BAR and the dial is printed 10 BAR, but the gaskets have never been tested or replaced, so the water resistance is not guaranteed and the watch should be kept away from water. The caseback is a display back, but it is not marked as sapphire anywhere, so no claim is made about its material. The dial has luminous dots but the hands do not, so the watch cannot be read in the dark by the hands alone. The lug width has not yet been measured with a caliper and is given below as an approximation.
Overview
An Orient Star automatic in solid stainless steel, sized to suit either a man or a woman, with a display caseback that shows the movement working. The dial is a clean, genuinely neutral silver – measured off the photographs it sits at a saturation of under 2 per cent, so there is no yellowing or cream cast at all – with a fine satin finish and no pattern. It carries the oval Orient Star crest with its script S and the ORIENT STAR name above the centre, and AUTOMATIC, 21 JEWELS and 10 BAR below it. Eight applied bar markers sit at 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11 with applied Arabic numerals at 12, 9 and 6, and small luminous dots run round the inner edge at the five-minute positions. The date sits in a raised polished frame at 3 o'clock. The crown is signed with the Orient Star crest on its face, and the bracelet is the original Orient Star bracelet, with the crest stamped on the clasp and the part number QP7528 on the end piece. Three spare links are included.
Specifications
- Brand: Orient
- Model: Orient Star
- Case number: 761576, engraved on the caseback. This is a case number, not a calibre number – see the note above.
- Movement: automatic with date, 21 jewels according to the dial. The rotor is printed Orient Star with the crest and JAPAN; neither the rotor nor the bridges carry a calibre number, so the calibre cannot be stated. The bridges have a perlage finish and a jewel is visible through the display back.
- Date of manufacture: late 1990s to the early 2000s, estimated from the oval crest with ORIENT STAR, the 10BAR bar-notation on the caseback, the display back with the gold-printed rotor, and the QP-prefix bracelet part number; there is no date code or serial number on the watch, so the year cannot be established
- Case: solid stainless steel, with a display caseback. The caseback is engraved ALL ST. STEEL, and there is no plating and no precious-metal hallmark anywhere.
- Case diameter: 36 mm excluding the crown
- Crystal: flat, with no scratches, chips or cracks found
- Dial: silver with a fine satin finish and no pattern. Measured off the photographs with the white background in the same frame used to correct the white balance, the dial reads at a saturation of 1.7 to 1.9 per cent across three sample points, so a genuinely neutral silver.
- Dial printing: the oval Orient Star crest with script S and ORIENT STAR above the centre, and AUTOMATIC, 21 JEWELS and 10 BAR below it. There is a dial code at the outer edge near 6 o'clock, too small to read in the photographs.
- Markers: eight applied bar markers at 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11 and applied Arabic numerals at 12, 9 and 6; the 3 o'clock position is taken by the date window. Small round luminous dots run round the inner edge at the five-minute positions.
- Hands: three – faceted polished baton hour and minute hands and a slim straight seconds hand with an anchor-shaped counterpoise. The hands carry no luminous material.
- Date: window at 3 o'clock in a raised polished frame, white disc with black numerals. There is no day – this is a date-only model.
- Water resistance: the caseback reads W.R. 10BAR and the dial 10 BAR, but the gaskets have not been tested – see the note above
- Caseback engraving: ORIENT / 761576 / a code beginning KL that is partly hidden by the bracelet and cannot be read in full / MADE IN JAPAN / ALL ST. STEEL / W.R. 10BAR. Display back. No separate serial number and no sticker.
- Bracelet: original Orient Star stainless steel bracelet, with the oval crest stamped on the clasp cover, STAINLESS STEEL on the centre links and the part number QP7528 on the end piece. No other maker's name appears anywhere on it. Two-sided folding clasp with a push button on each side, and two to three micro-adjustment holes in the clasp blade.
- Lug width: approximately 18 to 20 mm, estimated from the photographs – to be confirmed by measurement
- Wearable size: as currently linked the bracelet fits a wrist of approximately 155 to 160 mm, taken from the graduated cone in the photographs. With all three spare links fitted it reaches roughly 185 mm.
- Weight: 105.29 g as fitted, not counting the spare links
- Included: three spare bracelet links and one split pin
Condition
Good, with visible signs of wear.
- Dial: very good. No crazing, no stains and no lifting of the markers were found under magnification, and the printing is sharp. There is one tiny spot of deposit, well under a millimetre, below the 9 o'clock numeral.
- Markers and luminous dots: all present, firmly seated and free of corrosion.
- Crystal: no scratches, chips or cracks were found.
- Hands: all three straight and clean, with no corrosion.
- Case and bezel: fine hairlines and scuffing over the whole of the bezel and the case sides from normal wear. No distortion. The upper edge of the end piece at the 6 o'clock side carries a band of small dents with slight lifting of the metal.
- Deposit: yellow to brown build-up in the groove around the edge of the caseback and around the lugs and the spring bars, as described in the note above. No rust and no green corrosion anywhere.
- Crown: intact and correctly seated, with the crest on its face clear and no chips or deformation.
- Movement, seen through the display back: clean, with no rust, no damage and nothing missing.
- Bracelet and clasp: no rust, no broken or missing links. Fine scratches across all of the links and one diagonal scratch on the clasp cover. Stretch could not be assessed from the photographs. The three spare links are free of rust and damage.
Working order
The watch is running and it ran continuously throughout the photography. The seconds hand was measured against the timestamps of five separate photographs spanning 83.5 seconds: over that period it advanced the equivalent of 84.4 seconds, a difference of under one second, which is within the accuracy of reading a hand position from a photograph. The interval of 67.2 seconds between the two widest-spaced frames matches as well, so there is no point at which the watch stopped. The date is displayed correctly. The power reserve, the automatic winding by the rotor, the hand winding, the date changeover, the timekeeping accuracy and the water resistance have not been tested with equipment, and the movement has not been serviced. Please consider this a used mechanical watch that may require servicing at some point.
