# Canon Extender EF 1.4x – Original Version – Beautiful Condition – Excellent Clear Optics **Serial Number:** 39568 Thank you very much for viewing this beautifully preserved Canon Extender EF 1.4x teleconverter from Japan. Introduced in November 1988, the Canon Extender EF 1.4x is the original version of Canon's 1.4x teleconverter, developed for compatible EF-mount telephoto lenses during the early years of the EOS camera system. Designed to fit between the camera body and a compatible lens, this extender increases the effective focal length by 1.4 times without requiring photographers to carry an additional super telephoto lens. For example, a compatible 200mm lens becomes a 280mm lens, providing additional reach for photographing wildlife, birds, outdoor sports, and distant subjects. The extender incorporates a dedicated five-element, four-group optical design, developed to extend focal length while maintaining the optical performance of compatible Canon telephoto lenses. Its compact construction makes it a practical accessory for photographers who want additional telephoto reach without significantly increasing the size of their equipment. As the original model introduced before the later II and III versions, the Canon Extender EF 1.4x also has an interesting place in the history of Canon's professional EOS telephoto system. ## ■ Appearance The extender is in very good overall cosmetic condition, showing only slight surface scuffs from normal use over the years. Despite its age, the exterior remains clean and attractive, reflecting careful storage and preservation. The overall appearance is beautifully maintained, making this an appealing example of the original Canon Extender EF 1.4x. ## ■ Viewfinder / Optics **Optical Elements:** The Canon Extender EF 1.4x is in excellent optical condition. **No fungus or haze has been observed, and the optical elements remain exceptionally clear.** The extender maintains excellent overall optical transparency, which is one of the particularly attractive features of this example. Its dedicated optical construction is designed to provide additional telephoto reach while preserving the image quality of compatible Canon EF telephoto lenses. ## ■ Functional The extender has been carefully checked in Japan, and its general functions are operating properly. When attached between a compatible Canon EF telephoto lens and an appropriate camera body, it increases the effective focal length by 1.4 times. For example, a compatible 200mm F4 lens becomes a 280mm F5.6 combination. **Please note that a 1.4x extender reduces the effective maximum aperture by approximately one stop.** This extender is designed for selected Canon EF telephoto lenses and is not compatible with every Canon EF lens. Compatibility should be checked for the specific lens and camera body before use. Autofocus availability and performance may vary depending on the camera and lens combination. Its compact design makes it useful for wildlife, bird, sports, and other telephoto photography where additional focal length is desirable. ## ■ Included Items - Canon Extender EF 1.4x teleconverter Please refer to the photographs for the complete contents of this sale.
