Islamische Qajar-Taubenfiguren mit Gold- und Silber-Damascierung aus Metall und figürlicher Gravur - Metall - Naher Osten - Qajar Dynastie (1796–1925)

Islamic Qajar Steel Dove Figurines with Gold and Silver Damascening and Figural Engraving – Set of Five Description A rare and visually striking group of five hand-crafted steel dove figurines executed in the traditional damascening and koftgari technique, reflecting the artistic language of Islamic metalwork associated with the Qajar tradition. Each sculpture is individually formed from hammered steel with stylised standing legs, fan-shaped tails, and elegantly simplified avian forms. The surfaces are decorated with gold and silver inlaid ornament ranging from restrained linear motifs to elaborate figural and narrative engravings. Two of the figurines are especially notable for their richly engraved imagery depicting human figures, animals, and courtly or mythological-style compositions inspired by Qajar visual traditions. These engraved scenes include seated and standing figures in flowing garments alongside ornamental scrollwork and symbolic motifs, creating a strong narrative and decorative presence. The remaining figurines display more restrained silver-damascened decoration characteristic of traditional koftgari workmanship. Their forms closely resemble documented Qajar steel bird figures attributed to the Qajar period and previously offered in major Islamic and Indian art auctions. The group presents an impressive combination of folk-art aesthetics and refined decorative metalwork. Variations in engraving, proportions, and surface finish further support the individually handmade character of the pieces. The sculptures retain a beautiful aged surface with visible patina, oxidation, and signs consistent with age, use, and traditional hand production. One of the smaller bird figures shows loss to the lower section of one leg/foot, visible in the photographs. The exact dimensions are clearly visible in the photographs. The photographs form an integral part of the description and condition report. Shipping: The items will be carefully packed and shipped securely to ensure safe delivery. #Orientalist

Description

A rare and visually striking group of five hand-crafted steel dove figurines executed in the traditional damascening and koftgari technique, reflecting the artistic language of Islamic metalwork associated with the Qajar tradition.
