Vicent Orts - Vicent Orts - Kasten - Pappel - Schachtel

Clops i Pots is a project created at the Entorns creative residency space. The goal was to make items made solely from local or waste materials. Wooden boards made from poplar, locally known as “Pots de Clop”, salvaged and restored from the rubble of old houses, giving them a second life inspired by the process used by farmers to repair their doors giving them autonomy and knowledge of their surroundings. They reflect the pragmatism and natural common-sense present in rural environments. This sparks a debate about the temporality of materials. Instead of consuming new raw materials, the immediate environment resources are used, in this way generating sustainable results which are emotionally linked to their context. Vicent Orts (1995) Vicent has a degree in industrial design engineering from the University Jaume I, in Castelló. He has worked with renowned designers, has completed multiple artistic residencies and participated in several exhibitions worldwide. He currently coordinates the Artefactes project, an archive of self-made tools from the rural world. Through his practice, Vicent seeks to generate a debate on the temporality of materials by relocating produc- tion and working with pre-existing items.
