An elegant and well-preserved French brass carriage clock by L’Epée 1839, featuring a high-quality jewelled movement and classic design. The clock is housed in a polished gilt brass corniche case with bevelled glass panels on all sides, showcasing the intricate movement within. The top is fitted with a hinged and fluted handle, typical of L’Epée’s signature style.

The white enamel dial is set with Roman numerals and blued steel hands, offering clear and classic legibility. The movement is stamped with the L’Epée 1839 trademark, 'Made in France', and '11 eleven jewels', and is fitted with an 8-day mechanism, renowned for its accuracy and reliability. The mechanism runs smoothly and keeps good time. The clock is accompanied by a double-ended winding key.

Historical Background
Founded in 1839, L’Epée is one of France’s most respected makers of carriage clocks and luxury horology, known for precision engineering and elegant design. This piece is a fine example of modern French clockmaking tradition, blending 19th-century aesthetics with robust, jewelled mechanisms.

Excellent condition throughout. Gilt finish retains a bright polish with only minor handling marks. All glass panels are undamaged. Dial is clean, with no chips or hairlines. Movement runs reliably and includes a double key.
