Ancienne et lourde épée "lofambwa" Ngombe/Doko
République démocratique du Congo 
Longueur totale : 78,5 cm
Période : fin du 19éme siècle ou tout début 20ème
Provenance : maison de vente aux enchères Suédoise; ex collection Sven-Erik Johansson, Varberg - Suède 

Cette épée rare était réservée aux chefs et servait de symbole de prestige et de dignité. Elle était souvent portée dans un fourreau composé de deux planches de bois.

Les 120 000 Ngombé vivent dispersés le long des rives du fleuve Lualaba. Ils ont migré au XVIIIe siècle depuis le lac Victoria et se sont finalement installés à leur emplacement actuel au XIXe siècle . Ils sont dirigés par des chefs, accrédités par la société des guerriers, Elombe , qui règnent sur les chefs de village et de famille (Bacquart, The Tribal Arts of Africa , 2002 ; Elsen,  De Fer et De fierté , 2003 ; Felix et GE,  Fatal Beauty: Traditional Weapons from Central Africa,  2009).
