Crucifijo del siglo XIX, denominado Nkangi Kiditu ("Cristo protector"), es una pieza fundamental del arte sincrético del Reino del Congo. Estas obras no eran simples objetos de devoción, sino insignias de autoridad y poder utilizadas por jefes locales, funcionando como puentes entre la jerarquía política y el mundo espiritual de los ancestros.

Cristo representado con rasgos étnicos estilizados, extremidades alargadas y un paño de pureza (pagne) estriado. En la base de la cruz se observa una marca en aspa motivo recurrente en el arte Bakongo que suele simbolizar el cruce de caminos entre el mundo de los vivos y el de los muertos.

Fabricado en aleación de cobre con pátina oscura natural y restos de oxidación superficial consistentes con la antigüedad. Fundición a la cera perdida.

En excelente estado de conservación.
