An imposing Swedish commemorative medal honouring Henrik Schück, one of the most influential figures in Swedish literary and intellectual history.

The obverse presents a finely modelled profile portrait of Schück, immediately recognisable through his distinctive spectacles, beard and formal academic appearance. His name appears on a separate tablet beneath the portrait, giving the composition the character of an official institutional medal rather than an ordinary commercial issue. The sculptural relief is particularly strong, with careful attention given to the facial features, clothing and contrasting surface textures.

Henrik Schück was a celebrated literary historian, professor and cultural scholar whose research helped establish the modern academic study of Swedish literature. His influence extended through university life, national cultural institutions and the Swedish Academy, making him an important figure in the development of Sweden’s intellectual heritage.

The reverse carries the Latin inscription:

HISTORIA HOMINIS ET NOTIONUM LITTERIS EXPRESSA
