BODYWORK & EXTERIOR:

Offered here is a truly iconic example of the Volkswagen Type 2: an original 21-window 'Samba' Splitscreen finished in an eye-catching two-tone orange and cream colour scheme.
This T1 underwent a full restoration and presents today with a vibrant, well-maintained finish showing only minor age-related signs of use, in keeping with its cherished history.
Notably, this Samba was originally delivered to an Austrian taxi and bus company, who equipped it with custom bumpers and a front-mounted spare wheel to maximise luggage space—features still present today, contributing to the vehicle’s unique provenance.

MECHANICAL CONDITION:

Power is provided by an upgraded 1641cc air-cooled flat-four engine with dual Weber carburettors and an external oil cooler, paired to a four-speed manual gearbox.
The engine runs smoothly and delivers noticeably enhanced performance over the standard unit.
Importantly, the original numbers-matching 1493cc engine has been professionally rebuilt and is included in the sale.
The most recent routine service was carried out at approximately 62,000 km. While there is no formal service history due to long-term family ownership, the vehicle has been maintained diligently, regularly driven, and always kept garaged.

INTERIOR & FEATURES:

The interior has been retrimmed in orange and black vinyl and remains in excellent condition throughout. The beige headliner, body-coloured dashboard, and chrome highlights complete the classic look.
This example is configured in an 8-seater layout with two rear bench seats.

PROVENANCE & DOCUMENTATION:

Originally delivered new in Austria by Porsche of Austria, this T1 Samba comes with extraordinary provenance. The original sales documentation is still present and notably signed by Louise Piëch, daughter of Ferdinand Porsche—a rare and historic touch.
First registered in February 1965, it was imported to the Netherlands in January 2001 and has been with its third long-term owner since 2003, remaining in the same family ever since.
