Geert Vrijdag (1943–1999), Untitled, hand-signed, in good condition, Netherlands, sold with frame, sold by Galerie, limited edition 74/140, 1995, Abstract screen print, 67 × 87 cm.
Description from the seller
Geert Vrijdag's work, with its abstraction and abundance of colors, evokes Cobra, yet it maintains its own style. Vrijdag worked without a preconceived idea, aside from figuration. The process of creation was very important to him. He said that a meditative attitude allows him to work intuitively. 'From that emptiness, something emerges; something unknown that wants to be known. I record that encounter with the unknown in form, color, movement, and material,' said Vrijdag. He tried to banish routine and tradition from the process to go beyond the observable world.
