"Hirusagari 昼下がり B" (Early Afternoon) - Limited 159/200 - Large Work - Norikane Hiroto 乗兼広人 (b1949) - Japan

A gentle, lovely piece. Rural landscape viewed through a Shoji window. An old thatched-roof house, sprawling fields, and distant mountains... And the parent cat and the kitten cuddled by the window, quietly gazing out at the outside world, are a striking sight. This work showcases Norikane's delicate copperplate engraving technique. Warmth resides in each delicate line. Though monotone, the soft use of light and shadow gently envelops the relaxed atmosphere of a early afternoon.
