Description from the seller
This is a lithograph by Jacqueline Beatrice de Jong (Enschede, February 3, 1939 – Amsterdam, June 29, 2024). She was a Dutch visual artist, draftsman, sculptor, and graphic artist. In the spring of 1958, she moved to London to study drama at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with the ambition of becoming an actress. After returning to Amsterdam, she worked at the Stedelijk Museum as an assistant in the applied arts department under director Willem Sandberg from 1958 to 1961. In 1959, during a visit to London, she met the Danish artist and co-founder of CoBrA, Asger Jorn, with whom she developed a relationship. In 2003, her work was showcased in a retrospective exhibition at the Cobra Museum of Modern Art in Amstelveen and the KunstCentret Silkeborg Bad in Denmark, accompanied by the publication Jacqueline de Jong: Undercover in the Arts.
