Description from the seller
Jogen no Tsuki (M) Ao 上弦の月(M)青(じょうげんのつき(M)あお)|Tanaka Yoshikazu 田中喜一(たなかよしかず)
“Jogen no Tsuki (M) Ao” is a woodblock print by Tanaka Yoshikazu, an artist known for his lifelong focus on the transformation of trees and the spiritual forces embedded in nature.
Rather than depicting trees as simple elements of landscape, Tanaka approaches them as living entities shaped by time, light, and unseen energies. His creative philosophy is rooted in spirituality, guided by ideas of divine revelation and the quiet guidance of nature. He has often found resonance with the sacred structure of Bach’s chorales and the flowing dynamism of Vivaldi’s string compositions, translating musical rhythm and inner tension into visual form.
In this work, the motif of the waxing moon is intertwined with the presence of trees, evoking growth, anticipation, and inner strength. The restrained color palette and precisely carved woodblock technique emphasize texture and rhythm, allowing the silent vitality of the natural world to emerge with clarity and depth.
Produced in an exceptionally limited edition of only 20 impressions, this print is extremely rare, with very limited availability on the market. The work is pencil-signed by the artist and numbered 3/20, clearly confirming its authenticity and strong collector appeal.
A quiet yet powerful composition, “Jogen no Tsuki (M) Ao” represents a mature and highly concentrated expression of Tanaka Yoshikazu’s artistic vision and is a compelling acquisition for collectors of serious Japanese modern and contemporary prints.
