Eugène CLARY
Born in Paris in 1856.
A student of César de Cock, he first exhibited at the Salon in 1878, then at the Salons of the Société nationale des beaux-arts and at the Salon of the French artists. He received a bronze medal at the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris. He followed the dissidents who founded the Salon of the Société nationale des beaux-arts, of which he became associated in 1890, and later a member in 1920.
He regularly exhibited at the Galerie Georges Petit, Bernheim, Reitlinger, and in London.
A talented Impressionist painter, he created numerous works along the Seine, which he endowed with a style and a charm quite personal.
Around 1908, he gradually became blind, and music became his artistic refuge until his death in 1926.
